I started my monthly beauty feature as a reminder for myself and us mamas to think about what makes us feel good. The little things we do daily and sometimes don’t think about that are actually apart of our happiness and what makes us look and more importantly feel our best. The morning walks, yoga, a workout, a compliment from our partners, getting our hair done, our style, skincare routine, makeup style… whatever it is we do to make us feel ready for the day. Sometimes #mumlife takes over and we get busy and put ourselves last and forget about the little things that can make us feel like …. well us. Sometimes pausing for a moment and reading a little post like this can remind us what we can do daily or even weekly for a bit of self love and care.
This months beauty babe Q&A is with strong, brave and beautiful mama Rhiannon Jones (aka @themamachronicles). A beauty therapist by trade, freelance makeup artist, lover of all things beauty (like me) and mama of two.
I love following this inspiring mamas journey, it hasn’t always been an easy road for Rhiannon and her husband and there has been hardships in her motherhood journey but they have bravely shared their story, you can read Rhiannon’s story on the link on her Instagram (which I will put at the bottom). Welcoming gorgeous baby boy Valentine earlier this year, Rhiannon has her miracle baby and beautifully documents her journey of love and life with her gorgeous family with a raw and honest approach.
Q1. What are your must have products when it come to skincare?
I use Skinstitut Lactic Cleanser day & night – this does a deep but gentle cleanse. I use Skinstitut Glycolic scrub on my face once a week as my skin is sensitive.
I use Jurlique Herbal Recovery Serum Day & Night, and Jurlique Night Cream at night. These are my 4 essentials. Jurlique and Skinstitut are both Aussie owned and made which is great. Skinstitut is a cosmeceutical brand, so you see results quickly, and Jurlique is a gentle brand that nourishes the skin with natural Australian grown products.
Q2. What are your makeup essentials?
Jane Iredale’s BB Cream & Jane Iredale pressed powder. These two combined give THE BEST coverage – the brand is also vegan. A good old Mac lipstick, and a Too Faced eyeshadow palette are always in my top draw ready to go. I also use a variety of beautiful makeup brushes by Jane Iredale, Zoeva and Napoleon Perdis. The brushes make all the difference. Also a good Primer – I use Hourglass.
Q3. How has your beauty / self care routine changed since becoming a new mama?
It has changed DRAMATICALLY. I once spent an hour doing my full face, now I spend 3 minutes doing it. I’ve nailed a quick routine in which I do primer, foundation, blush, mascara and lippy. If I have the time I will complete the look with a smokey eye and contouring – but that is very rare!
Q4. What are your favourite lifestyle activities?
These days my favourite lifestyle activity is simply walking our Labradors on nearby farmland at sunset. I also love driving through the countryside with my husband on weekends. I do yoga at home and end up on the floor fast asleep – it’s my ‘me time’ indulgence activity.
Q5. Who inspires you?
My son, he makes me want to succeed at all that I set out to do. Female entrepreneurs with kids – I’ve got many friends who run hugely successful businesses with kids in tow – amazing.
Q6. What makes you feel beautiful?
Wearing Spell, having my hair done, and having my husband tell me I look gorgeous and really mean it, haha.
Q7. Describe your ultimate beautiful day?
Watching the sunrise on the beach, road tripping to Crystal Castle in Mullumbimby, stopping at Harvest Bakery on my way home for a baked treat, and laying in my backyard hammock with a cup of tea in my hands to rest. So rejuvenating and relaxing.
Thanks beautiful x
